Working at SWJ Consulting has given me an insight into, not only what day to day a career in the industry consists of, but additionally, how it feels to be part of a team that all help and understand each other’s strengths.
I’ve loved learning how to use Revit, Tekla and Tedds; although I definitely have some way to go! I’ve enjoyed being briefed on smaller projects which, with some assistance and many questions (on my part), I was able to design the key structural elements, produce a calculations package and draw this up either by hand or on Autodesk software. Completing my first ever ‘billable piece of work’ was particularly satisfying and left me with an immense sense of usefulness. There is no doubt that the last few weeks have taught me a great deal and I cannot wait to get back to university and start applying my experience and my improved engineering judgement. After working with SWJ, I feel motivated and look forward to potentially working with them in the future.”
