We regularly collaborate with Property Developers, Architects and Design and build contractors to provide structural designs for new build office developments or change-of-use projects.
Ideally, we would work with clients from the early concept stage, so we can streamline the design process and reduce project risk. We can also work at the design and build stage, helping to identify cost savings and where a project may have been overdesigned due to worst-case scenario assumptions.
Greenham. Steel-framed offices maximising available floor space
This project pushed the structural design to its limits to achieve the desired architectural aesthetic while maximising the usable floor area for offices, a key priority in the brief.
We were asked to design a steel frame office building in Greenham, Newbury. The challenge with this design was the inclusion of ribbon windows, which meant we couldn’t use large columns for lateral stability. We worked closely with the fabricator to create enormous (although feasible and economic) connection forces to make the braced bays suitably stiff. Read more here.
